Vezë Sharri- Leader in circular economy

On May 26, Vezë Sharri in Tetovo opened their doors for an inspiring event focused on circular economy, waste management, and the development of green skills. Organized by the M6 Educational Centre in partnership with the Swiss-funded project Education for Employment (E4E@mk), the event brought together a diverse group of changemakers — including representatives from the Embassy of Switzerland, Helvetas, M6, and leading companies that are part of the M6 Board of Trustees.

Participants had the opportunity to tour the production facilities of Vezë Sharri & Lecker, where they were introduced to innovative approaches to integrating circular economy principles into production. Methods for waste management that enable the use of renewable energy sources were also demonstrated.

A special highlight was Elektro Sharri, the first biogas power plant in North Macedonia, which produces electricity from animal by-products and bio-waste with a capacity of 1MW per hour.

Vezë Sharri has been recognized as a model company that embraces the benefits of the circular economy. The company is committed to identifying and implementing sustainable solutions that reduce environmental impact while creating added value through innovative raw material management.

“When you work with passion and commitment, and focus not only on profit but also on social responsibility and community development, business growth comes naturally. From a small company in 1999, we’ve grown into a national leader in circular economy. We’re not only careful about how we manage our waste, but through our activities, we contribute to broader environmental protection,” said Arben Abdurahmani, owner of Vezë Sharri, Lecker, and Elektro Sharri. These companies are leading producers of table eggs and processed beef and chicken products, operating across multiple locations in the country.

This visit is part of an ongoing workforce development partnership with Vezë Sharri, which invests in the growth of its employees through training programs organized by M6 Educational Centre. By building green skills and developing managerial capacities, the company is preparing its workforce for the challenges of sustainable production.

“Today’s visit to Vezë Sharri reaffirmed the importance of investing in people as the most valuable resource. Their dedication to staff development, continuous education, and enhancing the skills of young professionals is truly inspiring. We are pleased with our collaboration with Vezë Sharri, which is a shining example of how companies in North Macedonia can create work environments that encourage young people to stay and grow their careers here. Through such partnerships and shared vision, we can create stable jobs, build careers, and drive the economy forward. M6 remains committed to supporting companies that recognize the value of knowledge and invest in human capital,” said Elena Mladenovska Jelenkovikj from M6 Educational Centre.

“We’re glad to see a successful example of a company applying circular economy practices and using waste as a resource while also investing in developing green and managerial skills among its employees. We hope this example will inspire many other companies in the country,” said Michal Harari, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Switzerland.

During the event, the companies’ activities and achievements were presented by CEO Abdulezel Dogani, while guests were further informed about the operations by Krste Popovski and Halime Rexhepi, who are responsible for technological processes within the company.

The event concluded with open discussions where participants exchanged ideas and experiences on advancing sustainable industrial practices and workforce development in North Macedonia.
